2010
February 3, 2010 by Kathryn Oakes, Marketing Manager Anheuser-Busch InBev Division, Dayton
I find it hard to believe that January is already over and we have moved into the second month of 2010. Looking back on 2009, it was an exciting year in the beer business. We welcomed two new beers into the Anheuser-Busch family: Bud Light Golden Wheat which continues to find new fans that want a light beer with huge flavor, and Select 55, the lightest beer in the world, which just recently went national. It's always exciting when new brands hit the marketplace and over the last couple years, Anheuser-Busch was on the forefront of new brand introductions (anyone hear of Bud Light Lime?). I think in 2010, we will see less new brands hitting our local markets as Anheuser-Busch continues to streamline its processes. But, you will see big pushes on the market leaders - Budweiser and Bud Light.
Budweiser: I think this is the year for Budweiser's new image and breakthrough. Budweiser has been seen as "my father's beer" for too long and has been completely out of touch with the 21-27 year old. This year you will see Budweiser become more than just an icon. The brand will reach new consumers by being involved with the Winter Olympics and the FIFA World Cup.
Bud Light: Humor will continue to be the message from Bud Light. In 2010, late night comedy shows will hold a spot for Bud Light. Also, as the number one beer in the world- you will see opportunities and events that can only be put on by Bud Light. Bud Light will return for the third year as the beer of the Port Paradise Party Cruise. Both Dayton and Cincinnati will have trips to giveaway in the summer of 2010 for this great party! Football, the most popular sport in the US, will be a great platform for Jimmy Football and all his crazy tailgating ideas.
We definitely can't predict what all will happen in 2010, but let's just hope it will be a good year for all. What do you think will happen in 2010 or what are you looking forward to? Let me and other HeidelBLOGGERS know.
